Bucklands Game Release News

By Iain Stewart

The Bucklands Family has grown substantially over the last few weeks, with the arrival of Gemsbok, Waterbuck and more Springbuck. One of the most recent interesting additions was a small group of Bushbuck released in the early hours one morning. We are still waiting for more Bushbuck to arrive also we have decided to add to our Impala and Eland numbers. Hopefully the next new arrivals will start to arrive from September onwards as spring breaks through the icy grip of winter and the animals give birth to their young.

Did You Know?

Zebra's stripes are like the human finger print. They are unique to each Zebra.

The stripes are also used by the fouls to identify the mares.

Rare Sightings

by Iain Stewart

A Verreaux's Eagle has been sighted near rocky outcrops on Bucklands Reserve. This is fantastic because we don't often get to see them.

Now a bit closer to earth. The Aardwolf have been moving around more and more during the day. This is very strange. The Redbilled Oxpeckers, which we noted last time, are still here which is fantastic! We are delighted to see them seemingly taking up residence at Bucklands as sightings of these birds in the Eastern Cape is rare.

Most recently, a shy little Antelope by the name of Cape Grysbok was sighted. This Antelope is extremely rare and has only been sighted three times since I have been at Bucklands.
